This week your child's spelling words are numbers zero-ten. Since it is a four day week, we started our homework in school today. I have not seen all the Reading Logs in awhile. Please ask your child to make sure he/she brings it in, thank you. Please be reading every night :)
Still in the spirit of the Olympics, today was "Jersey" day, Wednesday is "Olympic Sport Day", and Thursday we are to wear red and white.
Lego Club is still going strong every Tuesday, with lots of participants.
Have a great week.

Projects and Valentines
We are in for a busy week. It will be a challenge fitting homework in..... maybe not. Our spelling words are: had, don't, some, them, by, very, old, went, another, and chug. Your child should have four different books tonight to read over the course of the week. If he/she doesn't, please see that he/she reads on from home and writes it in the Reading Log.
Thursday is Day 100. We have started presenting our 100 Day projects as they come in. We are also supporting the Sochi 2014 Olympics by wearing a different colour every day this week. Tuesday is "Black" day, Wednesday is "yellow" day, Thursday is "green" day and Friday is "red and white" day. The following week will have special days as well.
Friday we will exchange Valentine cards and have a few treats, if you would like to send something that would be lovely, we already have some drinks provided.
Have a good week and let's hope we have no snow days to throw off our schedule.

Day 100 is fast approaching!
This week our spelling words are: could, walk, has, take, of, laugh, drink, far, mother and trunk. Please encourage your child to read every night. Many of the students have moved up a level in their reading. Way to go!!
Book orders are due this Friday February 7th. ( I will call in the order Feb. 10th).
Many of the boys and girls are forgetting to return their library books on Friday, I am afraid fines will start accumulating.
Lego Construction Club will be on Tuesdays for students in grade 1 and 2 from 2:00-3:00 pm. They may go home on the 3:00 pm. bus but need to bring a note.
Please see the calendar in your child's agenda bag for the special days during the WinterOlympics.
Enjoy your week.

January's end
Another week of eratic weather. Oh boy!!
This week our spelling words are: fast, please, down, for, him, her, why, upon, other and slump. The new and improved "nightly reading" routine seems to be working rather well. More boys and girls have reached their first goal of reading one hundred books. Way to go!!
Please be practicing "doubles" and "magic numbers". This is a big help when it comes to addition and subtraction, and there is a fair bit of both in the homework.
This morning we had two nurses from the G.M. Hospital to give us a presentation on Winter Safety. It was very informative and the girls and boys were a very attentive audience.
Remember to read voraciously, and have a good week.

No, spring has not really arrived.
What a lovely change in the weather, temporary I am sure. It is still chilly on the playground and there are lots of puddles, please see that your children wear their boots.
This week our spelling words are: up, sleep, as, they, give, use, how, Saturday, dine and vine.
The boys and girls are bringing their books home on Mondays, for the week. It makes for a bit of a frantic start on Monday morning but I am sure they will get into the swing of it before long.
Abbi has a birthday this coming Saturday. Happy Birthday Abbi!
please be practicing "Doubles" with your child. (up to 10+ 10).
Have a great week.

Happy New Year and welcome back!
It is great to see everyone back, rested and ready for second term.
There is no homework this week. However, I do expect everyone to be reading each night. The boys and girls have brought three books home tonight. This is so they do not have to remember to get a new one every day. We will see how this works. I know many of them forget to change them daily. Book orders are due in on January 13th.
Drama will be on Thursday as usual, for the regular participants.
This Saturday, January 11th, there is "Think Pink" basketball for breast cancer. The senior girls and boys will be playing teams from Harvey beginning at 12:00 noon.
Stay warm. Have a great week.
