Pink Week

Friday November 26th, grade two will be having a 15 word spelling test. The words are in your child's homework duotang and are words the class has already studied. Please review these words with your child.
Please read nightly and remind your child to copy the titles of books or chapters into the yellow log book.
This week is PINK WEEK. Our school is taking a stand against bullying. There are various events scheduled for the week. Friday, things will wrap up with the presentation of the pink T-shirts, a group photo of the entire school population, and a K-12 Assembly at 1:10pm. The public is welcome to attend our "Pink Celebration".
Grade Two was very fortunate to have a visitor last week. Dorothy McLaughlin's Dad Shane brought in a lobster trap, two "live" lobsters, a huge claw from a twenty pounder caught years ago and an assortment of bait pockets, measuring tools,etc.. He gave us a very informative talk on how the lobsters get "trapped" and explained the different parts of the trap and how they work. A big "thank you" from the class Mr. McLaughlin and to Dorothy too. We all enjoyed your visit.
Have a great week everyone.

Day 100 fast approaching !

Here we are well into 2010 and I have not blogged since November of 2009.
The year is passing all too quickly but going well. This Friday, February 19th, will be Day 100 if we do not miss any school days this week. All projects are due tomorrow, Wednesday, as they will be on display Friday. Parents and friends are welcome for the viewing after lunch in the cafetorium.
Thank you to all who provided treats for our Valentine's Day Party last Friday. We had lots of fun and everything was very tasty.
As my letter I sent home this week explained, we will be having less homework for the next while. I hope everyone continues to read every night and study spelling words. We will be regrouping for "Reading Club" again soon, so with consistent reading I am sure everyone will move up a level.
This Friday night "Planet 51" will be playing.
Please make sure homework comes in on or before Friday.
Have a great "rest" of the week.
