Merry Christmas!

I just want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and safe Christmas. I don't know where the time has gone, but it has certainly flown by. I hope you are able to relax and enjoy yourselves during what usually seems to be a very busy time. As they say, don't sweat the small stuff. I am thoroughly enjoying your children, each and everyone of them. Merry Christmas ! Mrs. Cronk

Storm Days

Another short week and winter has struck with a vengeance.
Homeroom K-2 - We will be practicing and practicing for our Christmas concert which is coming up in two weeks.
I'm so happy to see everyone dressed for the weather, the little ones are doing a fantastic job getting their winter gear on. It is hard work and as you know they don't have much time.
This month I believe we have two birthdays. Logan Laffoley turns five on December 12th and Kamden Foster will be five on December 31st. Happy Birthday you two!

Grade Two- Due to the short week I will not be sending the weekly duotangs home. We will be having our spelling test of ten words on Friday and I expect everyone to be reading nightly and recording their titles.
Have a great "rest of the week" and enjoy the snow. Mrs. Cronk

December approaches.

Welcome parents, guardians and students. It's hard to believe November is almost over. This is an exciting week in grade two as we have a visitor from District Office. Mrs. Sylvia McConkey, our K-2 math mentor has been working with us. The boys and girls have been working with tangrams and learning some very interesting things about these ancient Chinese puzzles. Be sure to ask them about this.
Homework is due Friday as usual. Our math homework focuses on place value this week. Also, please get an early start on your space stories, I'm anxious to read them. Spelling is a bit trickier this week with five silent "w" words, but I know you can do it!
Chloe Best has headed off to Newfoundland. We are certainly going to miss her and her many insect friends. We wish her all good things in her new school. I'm sure she will have lots of adventures to share with us via e-mail. We'll be waiting Chloe! We miss you.
My homeroom class is doing well. You can't imagine how much the kindergarteners have learned already! Some are even starting to write sentences. I am also positive that our class sings O'Canada with the most gusto. Keep up the great work boys and girls! All for now,
M. Cronk

Hello to everyone.

Homeroom - We have a busy week coming up next week. We have our anti-bullying presentation and then we have a special show by the Maritime Marionettes. Please bring $2.00 for that. Enjoy the week. Remember to look at the cup "half full" as opposed to being " half empty" but of course be prepared for that to upset from time to time. And keep on singing. M.Cronk

Happy Hallowe'en!
We are in for another busy week. Wednesday afternoon all the little "goblins" in K-2 will be going from room to room for different stations. They may wear costumes if they like.
I see we have two birthdays this month. Alison Russell celebrates her special day November 21st and Sumner Wilcox will be celebrating on November 13th. Happy Birthday you two!
The weather has certainly changed. Please make sure your child has warm clothing. The playground can be quite cold in the morning, being in the shade. If it is windy, then it is even a few degrees colder again. You might want to double check to see that your child's name is on hats, mitts, boots and well anything that they can take off.
Grade two is reading voraciously and that makes their teacher verrry happy!
Our K-2 class is doing a terrific job keeping the hallway near their hooks tidy and they are doing better at remembering to bring in their agendas from their bookbags.
Could my K-2 homeroom students please bring in a toonie this week for an anti- bullying presentation that is coming up? Thankyou.
Our Homework Lunch Program is underway this week, Monday and Wednesday.
Be safe and enjoy every single day. Mrs. Cronk

Can you believe this weather?

Hello to parents and students. Welcome to those of you who are new to the Homework Blog and to everyone else too.
Homeroom K-2- the boys and girls have brought home little booklets on Fire Safety. There are some great things for you to go over with your child and some pictures for them to colour. I put a badge/sticker in the front pocket of their agendas.

Grade Two- We have our regular homework this week along with a 30 word spelling test on Friday. I will be choosing words from our weekly spelling tests. These should not need much study, as these words are from the "end of the year list for grade one ". They have been doing well with them.
Math- we have started a unit on Solid Shapes and of course any extra counting of change and
mental math is always helpful.
Friday morning at 9:00 there is a K-2 assembly. Remember, " knowledge is power"- have a super week!

Short week!

Hello everyone. I trust you all enjoyed the extended weekend.
Grade Two
- Please study your new spelling words. *I would like you to also write a good sentence for each word. Remember, always start your sentence with a capital letter and use the proper punctuation. I will put looseleaf in your homework duotangs. Print neatly please, don't forget the letters that hang below the line.
- Also, parents please sign your child's math quiz and have them correct any mistakes. Make sure all corrections have been done in the duotang, you are all doing well at this, keep up the good work.
- We now have six pictures of some of you and your grandparents- keep those photos coming.
- Make sure you have a great book to read to someone every night. If you would like a chapter book, just let me know.
Picture retakes are the 18th, so all picture proofs are due on Wed. the 17th. That's it for now. Mrs. Cronk

Short week

This school week is a four day week. I trust you all had a lovely weekend and got your fill of turkey, ham or as Clein told me, moose meat.

Grade Two
The grade two class did quite well with the quiz on "doubles" and "magic numbers". Good job! You will find these strategies quite helpful as you add and subtract bigger numbers. We have had a few photographs come in of boys and girls with their grandparents. These are very special and we will begin writing our class book this week.

Homeroom-
Scholastic book orders are due Friday, Oct. 12th
Picture Orders are due Wed. Oct. 17th.
Retakes are Oct. 18th and cost $5.00.
Oct. 15th and 16th - no school, Teacher Curriculum Days.
Enjoy your week. Mrs. Cronk

October is here.

Hello students and parents. Nothing too new in K-2 Cronk this week. Our Evacuation Practice went well today. The boys and girls did a fine job walking right along to the Stone Church. A big "thank-you" to the grade 12 students who came along to assist.

My grade 2 students are working very hard and doing a great job with their writing. We are beginning a unit on "grandparents". We have been reading books about children and their grandparents and if you have any photos they could bring in to share, or any stories, that would be great. Homework continues much the same. I hope everyone is still working on those "doubles" and "magic numbers". Friday we will have a little quiz on them. Grade Two is doing an incredible job with their nightly reading and with their weekly spelling. May it continue.

Friday, K-2 will be walking around the school twice for the Terry Fox Run. Thank-you for sending in your loonies. Enjoy the rest of your week. Mrs. Cronk

Welcome! Fall has arrived and the leaves are turning.

Greetings from Mrs. Cronk in K-2. Our school year is well underway and everyone is working hard and having fun. The boys and girls in kindergarten are doing an amazing job learning where they go and what goes where with regard to agendas and homework. The grade two students are such a big help with our little ones.
At this stage in the year, homework for grade two is very straight ahead. As indicated in the front of your child's homework duotang, I would like the duotang returned on or before Friday. Also, there is a list of ten words in your child's agenda each week. We have a test on those words every Friday. Your child should be reading a book every week night and recording the title in the little "half scribbler", as well. Please be going over the "doubles" and "magic numbers" with your child too.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call me here at school until 4:30-5:00 pm., if it is urgent you can contact me at home.
Have a super week. Stay healthy, easier said than done I think.
