Wonderful Weather!

This weather is most welcome! We have a four day week this week and next. Friday most of the teachers are travelling to the mainland for Subject Council. Monday May 6th teachers have GMTA in the morning followed by Professional Development in the afternoon. This makes it a bit of a rush with homework but the students are quite used to this by now. The spelling words are in their agendas and duotangs as usual. Please encourage your child to read every day/night. They are all doing well but it is so easy to regress if they slip back into not reading regularly.
Ask your child about the school garden. Mr.s Angie Russell has some wonderful plans in the works and we have planted some marigolds for a little plot out in front of the school. If you have anything in the gardening line (tools, pots, etc.) that you would like to donate to the school, it would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Earth Day!

This week we have a lot of math homework. The class had twenty minutes to get started on it this morning. Knowing your "doubles" and "magic numbers" is really helpful doing these long equations. The spelling words are: which, always, try, must, under, open, just, buy, time, and think. Remember to read every night.
We are collecting pennies for wells in Africa. Thank you to all who have contributed to date.
Have a good week.

Trouting season is here!

I am hearing lots of "fishing stories" this week!
The spelling words this week are in your child's agenda and homework. We have no school for students on Friday so we will be having our test tomorrow, Thursday. Please see that your child's homework is in. Everyone got a good start on it on Monday in class so it shouldn't have taken long to finish up. READ, READ, READ, I am sounding like a broken record/CD, or whatever. It is very important as you know, to be reading regularly.
Friday, April 19th is a Professional Development Day for Teachers. There is no school for students.
Friday, April 26th we have an assembly at 1:10 pm.

Mud Season

For this week's spelling words please see the list in your child's agenda or homework. PLEASE have your child read regularly. It is also a great idea to have a novel on "the go". One that you can read to your child Children/ if they are within a few years of each other. Be sure to stop reading now and then to make sure they understand the story. Often we assume they know what a word means but when asked, they really don't.
-Book orders are due on the 15th, or there abouts.
-Drama Club performs "Cinderella" April 15th at 6:00 pm in the Great Hall.
-play performed for grades K-5 Tuesday morning at 9:10 am
-Drama Club travels to Saint John to perform again.
-Friday, April 19th is a Professional Learning Day for Teachers. No school for students.
We welcome Ms. Victoria Merritt to grade one. She is filling in for Mrs. Green-Griffin who is on Maternity Leave.

Winter is back....or so it seems.

This week our spelling words are: best, small, over, long, off, together, sit, were, part, and shell. Please see that your child reads every night. We are preparing for our Literacy Assessment. It is a good idea to discuss the stories with your child and ask them some questions too. Today we had TNB perform the "Velveteen Rabbit". It was great. The boys and girls thoroughly enjoyed it, as did the rest of us.
The playground is a cold spot. Please don't put those winter coats away yet. We still need hats and mittens too.
