Cooler temperatures.

This week our spelling words are : all, here, big, is, little, most, cap, map, tap and trap. As you can see we are learning the "ap" family. Please see that your child is reading regularly. There is no substitute for a nightly reading routine and hopefully a bedtime story.
Friday, September 27th is our annual Terry Fox Run here at school. The little ones walk around the school a couple of times, rain or shine. If it should rain, please see that your child has boots and a raincoat. They brought home information about this today.
Elementary Drama for grades K-5 starts Thursday, Oct. 17th. They may be picked up in the Great Hall at 2:45 pm or can go on the bus at 2:50 pm.
Have a great week.

Last week of summer......

Well we are getting into the "swing" of things. Our spelling words this week are: the, not, you, want, do, man, track, pack, lock and block. In math we are learning about patterns. Ask your child to look for some around the house, in a magazine, etc.
Please remember to see that your child is reading every night. The boys and girls are doing a fantastic job writing the date and titles in their Log Books. Way to go class!
It looks like the chicken pox virus is on the go, just a "heads up".
Have a good week.

Days are shortening.......

Welcome to my Grade Two Blog. Here I will list the weekly homework , upcoming events and various "goings-on". This week our spelling words are: like, cat, to, and, dog, I'm, rock, sock, dock and clock. Our spelling test is usually on Friday. Homework is due on or before Friday. Please see that your child is reading every night. There is a letter regarding this in the homework duotang.
Thank you for working your way through all the paper work in your child's agenda and returning it. Just a reminder that there are still a few more forms to come back along with the student fee, $10.00 or $20.00, depending if you choose to pay for half a year now or the full year. Please check your child's head for lice. Unfortunately they have survived yet another season.
Also, if your child is going some where other than home or to the "Club", please be sure to include the civic address of the home they are going to. The office makes up the bus lists and they do not have time to look them all up. Sometimes we have drivers "filling in" from away and they need these addresses.
This Friday there is a movie playing at GMCS Cinema. Check your child's agenda for the name and time. Have a great week!
