You gotta love that full moon!

The end of January is right around the corner. The days are lengthening.
This week our spelling words are: slice, pine, think, rink, stink, slide, wide, light, night and fright. Please, please, please remind your child to be reading every night. Mix it up a bit by encouraging them to read cereal boxes or road signs, whatever. You will be surprised what they can read. We have a tentative schedule for Student Council Activities. February through June looks like it will be busy and fun. Day 100 will be February 15th if we have no snow days or other glitches. Be thinking about projects. Also, for those of you who opted to pay the remainder of the student fees ($10.00) this term, you can send it in anytime. I'll be sending out notices in case you have forgotten. Have a great week.

Like I said, probably not for long...(the thaw that is)

It looks like a cold week ahead of us, please see that your child is dressed warmly for the playground. When it is -25 or so with the windchill we do not go out. But it is often cold and windy with higher temperatures.
This week our spelling words are: up, sleep, as, they, give, use, how, Saturday, dine and vine. Not all reading logs have been coming in, please remind your child to show it to me at least once a week. We are testing reading levels in K-2 this week. It makes such a difference if a child is reading regularly.
Almost everyone knows their "Doubles" ! Good job! Now we will be working on "doubles + 1 and doubles - 1.
Keep warm and keep reading.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone is well rested and ready for the new year. This month we have four birthdays! Chase had his in December, belated greetings to him and "Happy Birthday" to Caleb, Joshua, Harmony and Robert.
We do have homework this week but I will give the boys and girls a chance to start it here at school so they won't be feeling overwhelmed. Please encourage your child to read every night. I know you are probably weary reading this over and over, but it is so beneficial for your child. Here are the spelling words for this Friday: green, yellow, red, brown, pink, blue, purple, white, orange and black. Book orders will be going home and are due the 15th ( or thereabouts).
Have a great week.

It's c-c-c-COLD out there!

Winter has found us after all, maybe for just a few days. This week is a busy one. It will be shorter for students, as we have Parent/Teacher interviews on Friday morning, in addition to Thursday evening and PD for teachers Friday afternoon. Homework should be started early in the week. Our spelling words are: good, have, read, any, did, or, too, Tuesday, woke, and spoke. Please, please, please remember to read every night boys and girls. Also, speaking of reading, our Scholastic Book Fair is being held once again. It starts Wednesday Nov. 28th and runs until Friday at 11:30. Check out the flier in your child's report card envelope. Look on the back of the flier to fill out a ballot to win some books. Please remember to sign and send back the envelope. You may keep the report.
Monday night, TONIGHT! is the Gingerbread House night at the library.
The playground can be a pretty cold place. Please make sure your children have all the clothing they need to "face the elements". Enjoy the week- you too Mr. Wynn.
