No shadow today for Mr. Groundhog. Either way I am pretty sure we will have at least six more weeks of winter.
Regular homework this week. Please remind your child to return his/her library book by Wednesday. Tuesday, if the weather cooperates, Mrs. Russell will be taking our class to the curling rink for Gym class. Please send along helmets and warm clothing. We still need a couple of permission slips as well.
Book orders are due on Friday, Feb. 6th.
A letter is going home Monday with information about "Day 100" and 100-Day projects. There is also a list of your child's classmates being sent home in preparation for our Valentine's Day Celebration which will be held on Thursday, Feb. 12 th. Friday the 13th is a PD day for teachers so there is no school for students.
Due to snow days we are not sure yet when "Day 100" will be. Right now it looks like the 17th or thereabouts.
Have a good week.

Last week of January
Spelling Test results were much improved over last week. We had a test on "doubles" and "magic numbers". Three people got 100%. Great job! We will do this again in a couple of weeks' time, let's hope for a few more perfect tests.
Please remember Wednesday is 'library' day, books should be returned that day.
Also, Tuesday our class will be going curling again during gym class. Please remember to send in the "signed" blue forms ( if you haven't already), along with helmets, warm clothing and loose pants. The boys and girls are really enjoying learning to curl.
Please be reading with your child regularly, it makes such a difference.
Have a a great week!

Another week is yet upon us. Let us hope for a continuation of these milder temperatures.
The results of our Friday spelling test were not very good. We had colour words and only two students had them all correct. These words are grade one "no excuse" words and are all familiar to them.
We will be having a test on our "doubles" and "magic numbers" this Friday, practice, practice, practice.
A reminder that Drama will not be over until 3:15 pm. from now on. Please make arrangements to pick up your child at that time.
Tomorrow, January 20th is our trip to the curling rink. Mrs. Russell will take students there by bus and return after one hour. Please remember to have your child equipped with a helmet and warm clothing ( loose pants).

Well as it turns out, one of our new students has returned to Ontario and the other did not arrive. There you go, back where we started. So let us hope for a regular week. Book orders will be sent in on Tuesday. Please keep reviewing "doubles" and "magic numbers" with your child, also remember to read regularly.
Elementary Drama has resumed.
Enjoy your week. The day length is increasing, yeah!

Please make sure your child returns his/her library book on or before Wednesday.
It looks like a cold week, bundle up for the playground.

The pace is ramping up! This week we have a few special days. Tomorrow, Dec. 9th is Toque day, be sure to wear your favourite toque. Dec. 10th is Frosty the Snowman Day, wear white if you can. Also, Wednesday is our "Book and Healthy Snack Sale" Day. Please send any donations you might have tomorrow and/or Wednesday. Your child should be able to get a book and a snack for $1.00 or $2.00.
This will be our last week for homework before the holidays. It would be nice to keep reading nightly though. :)

We had a great "Pink Week" last week which finished up with a visit and wonderful performance from Tenille last Friday. Many thanks to Ms. Ward and Student Council for all the time and work that went in to organizing the entire week, we really appreciate all you do.
Tomorrow is Thursday already and tonight is "The Children's Christmas Hour" at the Library tonight. It starts at 6:15 pm.
December 4th the Elementary Drama Club is performing "A Flea on Santa's Tree"at 6:00 pm in the Great Hall. Donations will be appreciated.
December 5th is BLUE and GOLD Day, remember to wear our school colours. Book orders are also due on this day but I wait until Monday to send the order in.
Try to get some reading done with your child, I know everyone is very busy but it can be a nice, cozy quiet time too.
Enjoy the week!
